Just As We are(2024)
“Just as we are” shows a male figure positioned on a mask below a woman inside a mask with golden tears dripping on the constituents below. This is a work that draws us to accept and act upon the necessity of human connections and interdependence.
Artist Statement
"My role as an artist extends beyond recording reality; it also involves shaping and reimagining it."
Storytelling and the ways our experiences are reflected through it have always been central to my practice. When I first discovered art and became conscious of creating it, I was drawn to the ability of paintings and drawings to transport me into other worlds—worlds that often felt more compelling and expansive than reality itself.
My work explores both personal experiences and those shared by others. While documentation is an important aspect of my artistic practice, I believe my role as an artist extends beyond recording reality; it also involves shaping and reimagining it.
